Cold Service Warms to Sortimo Value

Gaining a valuable second life from an original installation of Sortimo storage units has brought a warm reaction from Ringwood-based ColdService.

The company is currently replacing 24 of its Vauxhall Vivaro vans, each of which had been fitted with units by Sortimo at its Salisbury UK base, along with telephones.

The original cost was £1,395 per vehicle but now the units are getting a second life in ColdService's replacement Vivaros at a fraction of their original cost. Sortimo is transferring the units for just £350 per van, and that includes installation of roof vents and a 12 volt charging system not previously fitted.

"When we chose the Sortimo units, some of them now dating back to 2002, we were impressed by their quality and the prospects of their long lifespan," commented Anne Taylor, fleet manager at ColdService.

"Our original thoughts have proved correct and Sortimo is again providing first rate service with a quick transfer between vehicles. This is made all the easier because the vans themselves are not drilled which enhances their used values as the interiors are still in good condition. That, in turn, minimises the risk of condition penalties at the end of lease, which again offers us a saving on overall costs."

Neil Underwood, southern area sales manager for Sortimo, said the company was more than happy to carry out the transfers rather than sell new units to ColdService.

"The ColdService engineers have obviously taken good care of the units so they remain in excellent condition. It would be a waste to throw them out when they have the prospect of a useful second lifespan and Sortimo will happily provide this service for any customer in a similar situation.

"Sortimo is as much about service as it is about sales and we always do our best to deliver on all our customers' needs."
