The Sortimo History

1960

At the age of 25 Herbert Dischinger opens a wholesaling shop for „lashing technology“ in Augsburg.

1980

5 employees. Products begin to be produced by Sortimo itself, instead of by sub-contract manufacture under license.

1990

Founding of „Sortimo International, Ausrüstungssysteme für Servicefahrzeuge GmbH“. Five locations in greater Augsburg and one factory in Switzerland.

1992

All production sites are now centralized at the new plant in Zusmarshausen. A wide variety of new products is included in the production programme.

1994

The first in the industry to have its quality management certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001.

1998

Market introduction of the second generation of in-vehicle equipment: Sortimo Mobil.

2003

30^th anniversary of the founding of the company – joyfully celebrated with customers and employees.

2005

The Forum for Safety and Transportation inside the Vehicle and several innovation meetings for leading end user professionals such as painters, carpenters, electricians and community services took place.

2009

The new logistics centre in Zusmarshausen to be built.

1973

Company founding in Augsburg, Germany. Development of a metal case for the safe transport of parts and tools – its dimensions soon become the industry standard.

1988

Change of name to „Sortimo International GmbH“.

1991

Laying of the foundation stone for the new production plant in Zusmarshausen.

1995

Expansion of the Zusmarshausen production site to include a modern office building.

2000

Founding of the subsidiary „Sortimo Speedwave GmbH“, which combines its know-how in design and development to focus on system components and developments for the automotive industry.

2004

Sortimo Globelyst – the third generation of in-vehicle equipment that combines style, function and customer benefits at the highest possible level.

2007

Introduction of the T-BOXX, an alternative to the classical Sortimo case.
